Pilsner Urquell Master Home Brewer Competition, July 28th
Brewlab is pleased to host Pilsner Urquell's first Master Homebrewer competition in San Francisco. On July 28th, we'll challenge home brewers in the bay area to brew the perfect bohemian pilsner -- or at least one worthy of the taste buds of Pilsner Urquell's Brew Master, Vaclav Berka, who will be lead judge for the competition. Similar competitions will be held in Chicago and New York.
The winning brewer at each event will not only receive a trip to Prague and Plzen this fall, but will also get the incredible opportunity of brewing a special one-time batch of pilsner with Mr. Berka.
Contestants are required to bring three 10 to 14-ounce bottles of their home brew. A panel of experienced judges, including Vaclav Berka, will judge the entered home brews. The judges will select winners based on the following criteria:
- 75% -- Accuracy to style (Czech-style pilsner)
- 25% -- Cleanliness (absence of off flavors)
We are limiting the San Francisco event to the first 75 homebrewers who reserve a spot by emailing their name, phone number, and competition city to pilsnerurquellusa@gmail.com. Contestants will then receive further details, including the exact time and location of the competition. More information and official rules can be found at facebook.com/pilsnerurquellusa.
